While working at Cedars-Sinai, I developed a calcium scoring application for an existing cardiac imaging analysis suite. Calcium scoring determines the risk a patient has for getting a heart attack due to calcium deposits dislodging in their heart.
One of the main challenges for this project was the lack of resources. Since I was working by myself, I had to develop the front and back end, as well as design the software architecture. This experience taught me not only how to write efficient real-time code, but also how to create a modular framework that can easily be expanded for new features.
All implementation done with C++ in Visual Studio. Front end GUI was developed using Qt. Algorithms used involved region growing, polygon thresholding, and so on.
